In 2018, the township of Watchem purchased the Catholic Church, for the sole purpose of transforming it into a live music and functions venue. In 2019, the town secured a “Tackling Tough Times” grant from Local Government, to help small communities thrive and put it towards a brand new fully installed permanent sound and lighting system.
The aim is to use it to the community's advantage and help bring not only live music to town but to also utilise the church as an amazing private functions venue.
Birthdays, footy and netball club balls, live music, weddings - you name it. The Watchem Church is a venue you won’t forget, and does not disappoint.
The former Catholic Church was completed in 1938, replacing an earlier wooden structure.
